Dr abdul kabil khan trains Sri Lankan journalists on Information Credibility & AI Literacy

Three srilankan institute completed specialized training Program on AI related journalism for sixty trainees, in total, in Colombo sri lanka.

The program, which was trained by Dr. Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication at Daffodil International University, on Thursday, 13 November 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Total of three separate sessions were held across three different institutions in Colombo throughout the day.

Around 30 journalists, media professionals, and online content creators took part in the “Information Credibility & AI Literacy” workshop, which was organised to enhance skills in distinguishing truth from misinformation by Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI).

Earlier in the day, he conducted two separate sessions—one at Express Newspapers Ceylon Limited, Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest media organisation, and another at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Kelaniya.

Present at the inaugural session were Kumar Lopez, Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Press Institute, and Kumar Nadesan, Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Directors.

The organizer’s stated that artificial intelligence and misinformation have become major challenges in today’s news environment. Therefore, they plan to continue such training programmes in the future with more journalists and media professionals.

Trainees confirmed their great benefit from training, noting that they acquired new ways to practicing AI journalism, identify fake news by using advance Ai tools and make story smart way.
