Jamil Khan Leads Mobile Storytelling Workshop at NIMCO

The National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO) hosted a significant training session on mobile storytelling on 6 May, aimed at empowering female journalists from community radio stations across the country.

The workshop was conducted by Jamil Khan, an associate professor at Daffodil International University and a renowned expert in mobile journalism (mojo).

The training saw the participation of 20 journalists who were eager to enhance their skills in mobile content creation, editing, and distribution.

The session aimed to provide these journalists with the tools needed to effectively utilize mobile technology in their reporting.

Jamil Khan emphasized the transformative potential of mobile technology in journalism. “Mobile technology is a game-changer for journalism, especially in resource-limited settings. It provides a versatile and accessible tool for storytellers to reach their audiences effectively,” he said.

The participants engaged in various hands-on activities designed to improve their practical skills. The enthusiasm and dedication of the journalists were evident throughout the session.

“Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. Seeing them embrace mobile storytelling with such passion was a testament to their commitment to improving their craft,” added Khan.

One of the participants expressed her excitement about the new skills acquired during the training. “This training has opened up new possibilities for how we can tell our stories and connect with our audiences. I can’t wait to start using these techniques in my reporting,” she said.

Another participant noted the value of learning from an expert. “Learning about mobile journalism from an expert like Jamil Khan was an invaluable experience. The skills we gained will significantly impact our work in community radio,” she remarked.

This training session is part of NIMCO’s broader initiative to support and uplift female journalists, providing them with the necessary tools to thrive in the ever-evolving field of journalism.
