Chandigarh University invites Dr Jamil Khan as visiting faculty

Chandigarh University, India has invited Dr Jamil Khan as a Visiting Faculty in the International Faculty Exchange Program. 

Dr Khan, a distinguished expert in the field of journalism, has graced the university’s campus from November 1 to November 4 as a resource person, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with students and faculty members.

Dr Jamil Khan, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism, Media, and Communication (JMC) at Daffodil International University, is widely recognized as a pioneer of mobile journalism in Bangladesh. 

His groundbreaking contribution to promoting a mobile-first strategy in mainstream newsrooms has garnered him acclaim both nationally and internationally. 

Notably, he introduced the first-ever ‘Mobile Journalism’ course as a Major at a university in Bangladesh, showcasing his innovative approach to journalism education.

Before joining Daffodil International University in February 2023, Dr Khan served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) since October 2019. 

During his tenure at ULAB, he taught a range of courses, from foundational subjects like “Introduction to Journalism” and “Media & Law” to specialized majors such as “Mobile Journalism,” “Online Journalism,” and “Investigative Journalism.” 

His expertise also extended to graduate-level courses like “Social Media Management” and “Research Methodology” for Master’s in Communication students.

Dr Jamil Khan’s rich academic background includes experience as an Adjunct Faculty at the Mass Communication and Journalism department of the University of Dhaka. 

Additionally, he served as a Specialist in Mobile Journalism at Prothom Alo, one of Bangladesh’s leading media organizations. 

Together with Sabbir Ahmed, he introduced Bangladesh’s first mobile-based news station, Bangladesh Times, marking a significant milestone in the country’s media landscape.

Throughout his career, Dr Khan has conducted seminars and workshops on digital journalism both nationally and internationally. 

He has trained over a thousand students and journalists, contributing significantly to the development of journalism in Bangladesh and beyond. 

His research interests encompass various aspects of new media, technology’s impact on journalism, mobile journalism, convergence journalism, social media’s influence, and citizen journalism.
