BBC Media Action and BJC Empower Bangladeshi Journalists in PRIMED Workshop

A training workshop titled “Protecting Independent Media for Effective Development- PRIMED” was successfully organized by BBC Media Action and the Broadcast Journalist Center, Bangladesh. The workshop aimed to enhance the professional skills and development of journalists in the country.

The Training of Trainers (TOT) program took place from June 17th to June 19th, 2023 at the CCDB Hope Center at Savar. 

The residential workshop welcomed the participation of reporters, photojournalists, producers, and news editors who aspired to further their expertise in the field of journalism. Among the participants were veteran media professionals like Munni Saha, Jamil Khan, Mohsin Ul  Hakim, Milton Anwar, and many others.

During the workshop, participants underwent rigorous training sessions and gained valuable insights into protecting independent media for effective development. The program also emphasized the importance of maintaining media integrity and fostering a conducive environment for unbiased reporting.

The training workshop witnessed the active engagement of journalists with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the field. Additionally, their commitment to participating in future training and mentoring programs organized by BBC Media Action and the Broadcast Journalist Center played a crucial role in the selection process.

Participants were fully accommodated throughout the residential training program. Their dedication and enthusiasm were commendable as they actively participated in the training sessions, contributing to the success of the workshop.

Certificates acknowledging the participants’ successful completion of the workshop and their record of participation were distributed, recognizing their commitment to professional development.

Protecting Independent Media For Effective Development (PRIMED) is a three-year project of BBC Media Action supporting public interest media in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Sierra Leone, and learning what works in making media more sustainable.
