A workshop on Digital Storytelling was held for the students of Khulna University on the 4th of December 2022. The workshop was a part of the two-day long ‘Sixth CJEN Bangladesh Networking Conference-2022‘.

At the end of several panel discussions among academics, researchers, and industry-leading experts, this digital storytelling workshop for the students was jointly conducted by Dr. Abdul Kabil Khan & Abdullah Al Hossain and moderated by Shariful Islam, A Khulna  University Assistant Professor. 

The workshop facilitator Dr. Abdul Kabil Khan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). Abdullah Al Hossain is a Senior Content Creator and Coordinator of Prothom Alo’s Mobile Journalism unit.

The participants of this workshop were about 50 students of the department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Khulna University.

The two hours long workshop envisages providing practical hands-on training to students in social media storytelling, interactive multimedia storytelling, and mobile storytelling. 

In the end, the participants secured knowledge of digital transmission of journalism, various formats of digital storytelling, shooting, editing, and broadcasting media products and were familiarized with ethical issues framing mobile journalism and digital storytelling.

With the theme of  “Constructive Journalism: Media’s Search for Solutions”, this 6th edition of the Communications and Journalism Educators Network (CJEN) conference was organized in a joint initiative of Khulna University’s Mass Communication and Journalism Discipline and Deutsche Welle (DW) Academy at the KU  campus.

The conference’s sole purpose is to bring together academics, researchers, and industry-leading experts in the sphere of communication and journalism who are interested in exploring the problems and prospects of these sectors.
